📘 How to Use the Average Calculator Tool

This tool helps you quickly find the average (mean) of a list of numbers, along with the sum, minimum, maximum, and a step‑by‑step explanation. No page reloads – everything happens instantly!

1️⃣ Enter Your Numbers

In the large text box, type or paste your numbers. You can separate them in any of these ways:

• Commas: 10, 20, 30, 40

• Spaces: 10 20 30 40

• New lines (each number on its own line):

You can mix them – the tool figures it out.
✅ Accepted inputs: positive numbers, negative numbers (-5), and decimals (3.14).
❌ Letters, symbols (except - and .), and empty entries are automatically ignored. If you accidentally type something invalid, you’ll see a clear error message.

2️⃣ Calculate the Average

Once you’ve entered your numbers:

• Click the purple “Calculate Average” button, or

• Press the Enter key while your cursor is inside the text box.

A brief loading spinner appears, and the results are displayed immediately – no page refresh!

3️⃣ Understanding the Results

The results card shows you everything at a glance:

• Total Numbers: How many valid numbers you entered.

• Sum: The sum of all numbers.

• Average (Mean): The main result – sum divided by count.

• Minimum: The smallest number in your list.

• Maximum: The largest number in your list.

All numbers are shown with up to 4 decimal places (trailing zeros are removed for neatness).

4️⃣ Clear the Input

Hit the “Clear” button to erase the text box and hide the results instantly. The cursor jumps back to the input area, ready for a new calculation.

5️⃣ Copy the Results

Click the 📋 copy icon (next to the word “Results”) to copy all result lines to your clipboard.
You can then paste them into a message, document, or anywhere else. A small notification confirms the copy was successful.

6️⃣ Download the Results as a Text File

Click the ⬇ download icon to save your results as a plain text file (average-calculation-results.txt).
This is handy for keeping a record or sharing the exact numbers with someone.

7️⃣ Switch Between Dark and Light Mode

Prefer a darker screen? Click the moon/sun icon (top‑right corner of the calculator) to toggle between light mode and dark mode.
Your choice is saved – next time you visit, it will remember your preference.

❗ Troubleshooting Quick Tips

• I see “Invalid input” error
  → Make sure you only use digits, negative signs (-), and decimal points (.). Remove any letters or special symbols like %, $, #.

• Results don’t show up
  → Ensure you have entered at least one valid number. If the field is empty, a message will remind you.

• Copy / Download doesn’t work
  → Use a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). If you’re on a very old browser, the fallback copy method still works.

• Dark mode toggle not visible
  → The icon depends on Font Awesome. If an ad‑blocker is blocking icons, temporarily disable it or allow the page.

• Calculation feels slow
  → The tool uses AJAX, so it’s almost instant. If your network is slow, you’ll see the spinner a bit longer – that’s normal.
